Circus Workshops for special educational needs
Here at Circus Allstars we believe learning circus skills should be open to all. We work hard to make our classes as accessible as possible.
We have taught circus classes for many different organizations that work with individuals with additional needs. For example, we have taught people with learning disabilities; visual impairments and physical disabilities.
We have worked in institutions that work with young people helping them with challenging behaviours.
We have also worked in His Majesties Prisons teaching circus skills as a part of an enrichment program.
Sometimes we need make no adjustments to how we teach our workshops, sometimes we have to tailor our classes to the group’s specific needs. The important thing is that everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy learning circus skills in a safe and fun context.
Workshops can start with a 30 minute show. A real circus skill performance from our expert instructor. Includes difficult tricks, laughs and audience participation.
The class then receives instruction in a large number of circus skills including: tight-wire, juggling, spinning plate, balancing feather, poi, gymnastic-ribbon, devil stick, diabolo, pedal-go, hula-hoop and stilts.
Along the way the group will have learned not just circus skills but also about achievement, creativity, perseverance, listening and co-operation.
